Alarm Systems
Alarm systems are available in HomeKit as security systems. Security systems in HomeKit have the states Home, Away, Night and Off.
Make sure that you fill in Write group addresses for all of the states. If your KNX alarm system doesn’t support a specific state, you simply fill in the group address of a similar state as shown in the example below.
Characteristc | Data Type | Write | Read |
---|---|---|---|
Home | DPT-1 | 0/0/2 | 0/1/2 |
Night | DPT-1 | 0/0/2 |
By using the group address 0/0/2 for the state Home and Night, you can be sure that your alarm system is armed when the state Night is selected in the Home app. If you don’t specify a Write group address, no telegram is sent to KNX which may results in an unarmed alarm system.
Arming/Unarming using only one group address
If you alarm system uses only one group addresses and is armed with the value 1 and unarmed with 0, you have to configure the security system as follows.
Characteristc | Data Type | Write | Read |
---|---|---|---|
Home | DPT-1 | 0/0/2 | 0/0/2 |
Away | DPT-1 | 0/0/2 | |
Night | DPT-1 | 0/0/2 | |
Off | DPST-1-3 | 0/0/2 | 0/0/2 |
Note: The Off-state uses the data type DPST-1-3. This way the alarm system can be turned off by the value 0.
- If you select the state “Home”, “Away” or “Night” in the Home app, the value 1 will be send to 0/0/2.
- If you turn of the alarm system, the value 0 will be send to 0/0/2.
- If the alarm system is armed in KNX, the bridge receives the value 1 from the group address 0/0/2 and sets the alarm system to “Home”.
- If the alarm system is unarmed in KNX, the bridge receives the value 0 from the group address 0/0/2 and sets the alarm system to “Off”.
