Blocking
A very often used feature in KNX is blocking to temporarily disables devices. For example you can disable the motion sensor in your bedroom to prevent it from turning on the lights at night.
Web-App
In the web app, an accessory is locked in the detailed view with the symbol.
Home-App
Blocking is not a feature that HomeKit understands. But hkknx still allows you to use it in HomeKit as well. If you enable the characteristic “Block” for an accessory, a switch will be added to the accessory in HomeKit.
- If the switch is disabled, the accessory will be blocked.
- If the switch is enabled, the accessory will be unblocked (not blocked).
The Home shows the blocking state for an accessory as “Turned Off” or “Turned On”.
Shows as separate tile
In the Home app you can choose to show the switch (to block or unblock the accessory) as a separate tile.
Open the detail screen of the accessory in the Home app and scroll to the bottom. There you find the option Show as separate tile.
Initialization
The blocking state is initialized using a group address. But not all KNX devices support reading the blocking state from a group address. In this case the bridge sets the initial value to “On”, meaning that the device is unblocked.
